The Cité des Climats et vins de Bourgogne, in partnership with Esprits de Vins, a training provider approved by the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET®), offers the WSET® Level 1 Award in Wines.
Open to everyone and requiring no prior knowledge, this course provides a structured introduction to the world of wine. It is suitable both for those starting out in the wine industry and for wine enthusiasts looking to acquire a solid foundation of wine knowledge.

The programme covers:

the WSET® Level 3 Systematic Approach to Tasting;
-
natural and human factors in viticulture;
-
different winemaking techniques;
-
the influence of these factors on wine style, quality and price;
-
the major French wine regions;
-
the main European wine regions;
-
the major wine regions of the New World;
-
sparkling wines;
-
fortified wines.
Theory sessions alternate with the tasting of approximately 60 wines, assessed using the WSET® Level 3 Systematic Approach to Tasting.

Duration: 30 hours of training and 3 hours of examinations

The final examination consists of 50 multiple-choice questions, several open-ended questions, and a blind tasting of two wines—one white and one red—to be assessed using the WSET® Level 3 Systematic Approach to Tasting.
